Get to Know Me

My name is Alysia, but you can call me Ally. I live in the mitten state that is known as Michigan. I am currently wrapping up my senior year of high school and attending college this upcoming fall. As of now, I will be attending the University of Michigan Dearborn, I will be majoring in English Literature/Creative Writing.

The reasoning for me majoring in English Literature/Creative Writing (and possibly double majoring in Business) is because I want to continue my understanding of literature and better my writing. I also want to go into publishing after college and possibly start my own publishing company one day! It’s quite a big dream but as the saying goes, “go big or go home.”

The point of me starting “Alysia’s Reading Nook” was to share my love of books with everyone else, and I cannot wait to kick off this blog. I’ve been wanting to do this for a few months now so I’m excited to finally get started on it. While my reading nook will be filled with many reviews and my thoughts, it will also be filled with much other fun book related stuff and possibly some pieces that I wrote. Please fill free to leave comments on any posts so we can have some fun discussions on the book(s)!

If you made it this far, I’ll share a little more about me. I’m a proud cat mom of a (fat) diluted calico that will turn three years in April, she’s an Aries just like her mom! 🙂 I also have two cute little dogs, one is a poodle-terrier mix and the other is a chocolate lab mix, who is currently sleeping with his head in my lap.

While I do enjoy reading, I also like to write (obviously) and drawing/painting. I haven’t been able to paint or draw much lately but I have been working on a book called “Out of Touch”. I don’t want to give away the plot but it will have LGBT+ and POC characters, and that’s what I’m most excited about with this book. Not many LGBT+ characters are represented in books I’ve read so as a bisexual teen I want to help shine a light on the LGBT+ community and bring in POC characters as well.

The top two book genres that I enjoy the most are contemporary and [high] fantasy, but I am willing to read just about any book that interests me. Some of my favorite authors are Sarah J Maas, Amber Smith, Jay Asher, Nicola Yoon, Veronica Roth, and many more.

I hope this gives you a little insight and better understanding of who I am. Please browse as much as you like and enjoy your visit.
